Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Dual Logic Labs ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Murder Matrix mobile application (the "App") on Android or iOS, or when you play the web version at duallogiclabs.com/murder-matrix.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Anonymized player ID — a randomly generated anonymous identifier is created for each device to associate your leaderboard scores with your submissions. On Android, this identifier is also used to link your saved game progress via Google Play Games Services. On iOS, saved game progress is synced via iCloud Key-Value Store, linked to your Apple ID.
- Display name — a display name is shown next to your score on the daily leaderboard. On Android, this defaults to your Google Play Games display name if available; on iOS, it defaults to your Game Center display name if available. Otherwise a randomly generated name (e.g. "SwiftPanda42") is assigned. You can change it at any time in Settings. Display names are stored in Firebase Firestore and are visible to other players on the leaderboard.
- Leaderboard scores — your solve time for daily puzzles is submitted to Firebase Firestore and displayed publicly on the daily leaderboard alongside your display name.
- Saved game progress — completed puzzle IDs and solve times are stored in the cloud to sync your progress across devices. On Android this uses Google Play Games Services Saved Games. On iOS this uses iCloud Key-Value Store, stored in your iCloud account alongside app settings.
- Settings — on Android, certain app settings (such as your leaderboard display name) are stored in a Google Play Games Services key-value snapshot. On iOS, settings are stored in iCloud Key-Value Store, associated with your Apple ID.
- Device identifiers — Firebase Analytics may collect device-level identifiers (such as an advertising ID) to distinguish unique devices and sessions.
- App usage data — we collect information about how you interact with the App, including puzzle completion events and session activity, via Firebase Analytics.
- Crash logs and diagnostics — if the App crashes or performs poorly, diagnostic information is automatically collected by Firebase Crashlytics (Android) to help us identify and fix issues.
How We Use Your Information
- To display your solve time and display name on the daily puzzle leaderboard.
- To sync your puzzle progress across devices via Google Play Games Services (Android) or iCloud Key-Value Store (iOS).
- To understand how the App is used and improve the player experience.
- To diagnose and fix crashes and performance issues.
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- Google Play Games Services — used for player sign-in, cloud save, and settings sync on Android. Google Privacy Policy
- Apple Game Center — used to retrieve the player's display name on iOS for leaderboard seeding. Apple Privacy Policy
- iCloud Key-Value Store — used to sync saved game progress and app settings across iOS devices, associated with your Apple ID. Apple Privacy Policy
- Firebase Authentication — used to assign each player an anonymous identifier for leaderboard submissions. Google Privacy Policy
- Firebase Firestore — used to store and retrieve daily leaderboard scores and display names. Google Privacy Policy
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics — used for app analytics and crash reporting. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Play Billing — used to process in-app purchases (e.g. paid puzzle packs) on Android. Payment information is handled entirely by Google; we do not receive or store your payment details. Google Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — used to process in-app purchases on iOS. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple; we do not receive or store your payment details. Apple Privacy Policy
Data Retention
Firebase Analytics data is retained for 90 days by default. Leaderboard scores and display names stored in Firebase Firestore are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Saved game data stored via Google Play Games Services is retained until you delete your Google Play Games account or request deletion. Saved game progress and settings stored in iCloud Key-Value Store are controlled by your Apple ID and can be deleted via your iCloud account settings.
Web Version
The web version of Murder Matrix (duallogiclabs.com/murder-matrix) does not use Google Play Games Services, Game Center, or iCloud. However, it does use Firebase Authentication and Firebase Firestore for the daily leaderboard — an anonymous identifier is created for your browser session, and your solve time and display name are submitted to the leaderboard when you complete a daily puzzle. Game progress (completed puzzles, in-progress marks, and locked placements) is stored locally in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device. Local data can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the data associated with your account. You can change your leaderboard display name at any time in Settings. To request deletion of your leaderboard scores, please contact us. You can remove the App's Google Play Games access via your Google Play Games account settings, and manage iCloud data via your Apple ID account settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
